1-bit TIFFs for exposure

Four channels, four angles, four 1-bit TIFFs named with channel, angle, LPI and DPI — ready for the exposure unit.

Pick the right LPI

Coarse mesh and dark garments want coarse screens; fine paper wants fine screens. See the difference side by side.

Halftone RIP

A RIP that speaks screen printer.

Every channel is screened with its own angle and an area-calibrated dot, so printed coverage matches your artwork — not an approximation.

🎯

True Rosette Angles

C 15° · M 75° · Y 0° · K 45° — the standard offset set that interlocks dot grids into a stable rosette instead of moiré.

📷

Direct Image Halftone

No tracing required. Screen raster photos directly into single-spot grayscale for photo tees or full CMYK rosettes. Includes white-ink invert and physical print-width scaling.

⚖️

Area-Calibrated Dots

Dot area equals ink coverage at every cell, so 50% tone prints as 50% ink — predictable on press.

🔲

Four Dot Shapes

Round (default), square, diamond and line ruling — pick the dot that suits the garment, mesh and ink.

🎞️

1-Bit TIFF Positives

Uncompressed 1-bit TIFFs (BlackIsZero) at 300/600/1200 DPI — exactly what exposure units expect.

🧠

Memory-Safe Engine

Band-processed screening keeps RAM bounded even at 1200 DPI on large artwork — no crashes on big jobs.

Rosette

Four angles, zero moiré.

Each CMYK channel is screened at its own angle so the dot grids interlock into a stable rosette pattern.

Trace or drop

Trace a vector logo or drop a raster photo. Vecspine handles both vector CMYK plates and direct image halftones for photo tees.

Dial LPI & dot

Pick 25–200 LPI, a dot shape, and 300/600/1200 DPI in the Halftone dialog. Rosette angles are applied automatically.

Export positives

Write one 1-bit TIFF per channel plus a multi-page PDF — named with channel, angle, LPI and DPI for the press.

FAQ

Halftone questions, answered.

What LPI should I use for screen printing?

25–35 LPI for dark garments and coarse mesh, 45–55 LPI for standard textile, 65–85 LPI for paper, 100–200 LPI for high-detail work. Vecspine lets you dial 25–200 LPI and always confirm with your printer.

What are rosette angles?

Each CMYK screen is offset (C 15°, M 75°, Y 0°, K 45°) so the dot grids interlock into a stable rosette pattern instead of producing moiré.

What is a 1-bit film positive?

A pure black-and-white raster where every pixel is either ink or no-ink — exactly what a screen exposure unit needs. Vecspine writes uncompressed 1-bit TIFFs (BlackIsZero).

Which dot shapes are supported?

Round (default), square, diamond and line ruling — all area-calibrated so printed dot area equals ink coverage.

Can I halftone a photograph without tracing it?

Yes. The Image Halftone tool screens raster images directly — no vectorization required. Use Grayscale mode for single-screen photo tees, or CMYK mode for full-color process prints. You can even invert the output for white-ink prints on dark garments.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Screening, separation and export all run locally. Nothing is uploaded, ever.

Print halftones without the guesswork.
